Nicki Minaj was one of the many celebrities to turn up New York’s Fashion Week this week, sitting in at Connecticut-born fashion designer Betsey Johnson’s runway show – rather appropriate given the 69 year-old’s admission that the music star was a massive influence on the range exhibited.
Mtv.com reports that the designer came out with a line bright on colour and energy, and then cited the Trinidadian hip-hop artist as inspiration; “I was watching Nicki Minaj and my daughter Lulu, and I’m thinking, ‘They are the body type,’” said Betsey, going on to add, “I love [Nicki], and she really wears my stuff. She likes real tight. She’s just my most, most, most favourite girl right now.”
Minaj was in the front row for the show and was generous enough to afford Johnson the same level of praise; “She’s a free spirit,” gushed Nicki, “When I met her the other day, I felt like I knew her for my whole life. She’s so warm and considerate and caring. She’s amazingly talented, and I’ve been wearing her clothes forever, so to meet her was like, ‘Yay!’ I was bowing down to her. She’s dope!”
It’s not all been good times for Minaj in New York though, after the Huffington Post reported SomedayNewYorker designer Jessica Rogers is accusing the 28 year-old of stealing one of her “puffball” designs for her clothing this week.

When the Pink Friday star was asked about the talks between her and Simon Cowell regarding “X Factor,” Nicki relented as Martha took over and revealed her love for the former “American Idol” judge.
“I can’t talk about that, but I love Simon very dearly,” the Lil Wayne protégé answered in a British accent. “He’s such an amazing man. I had the pleasure of meeting him and my life will never be the same, darling. I told him that. I was absolutely in love with him prior to meeting him. And now that I’ve met him, it’s like I dream about him every night.”
Cowell, for his part, seemed equally smitten with the hip-hop star. In an interview with XXL, the music mogul raved about the Young Money MC. He wouldn’t confirm whether he talked to the rapper about being a judge on the show, but he said they spoke about various business opportunities.
“We spoke to Nicki actually about a lot of projects,” he said. “It wasn’t specifically about this, but we were just very interested to meet her. I’m a big fan of hers. So I don’t know if it’s gonna be this show or something in the future, but it was definitely somebody I wanted to meet.”
“I know the show is gonna be dope ’cause Simon is dope,” Nicki said, back in her own voice. “And I wish them luck.”

NEW YORK — Nicki Minaj confirmed to MTV News that she is in talks to join Britney Spears on her upcoming tour.
We caught up with the Young Money princess before she performed at Casio’s TRYX OUT: NYC 2011 Launch Party at the Best Buy Theater on Thursday night.
“I am in talks of joining Britney Spears, yeah,” Minaj said in the British accent of her Martha alter ego. “I’m in talks about a lot of things, ya know. I don’t know — oops, I did it again.”
Rumors of the possibility of Minaj becoming the opening act on the singer’s tour promoting Femme Fatale began circulating shortly after Enrique Iglesias dropped out of the lineup. Nicki is currently on the Lil Wayne-headlined I Am Still Music Tour, but that concludes May 1 in East Rutherford, New Jersey, while the Spears tour is scheduled to kick off June 17 in Sacramento, California.
The hectic travel schedule — Nicki is set to fly out right after the Best Buy Theater performance to rejoin the I Am Still Music Tour on Friday (Aprilin Greensboro, North Carolina — is the Queens MC’s only qualm about hitting the road.
“I’m getting sick every other day,” she said. “That’s the one downside. I keep my dressing room warm, and then of course when we go out to the stage area, it’s freezing cold, and then when we do the afterparty, it’s cold. And then flying and stuff like that. That’s the only downside about touring. It’s just to keep your physical health in order. I was just recuperating from being sick last night and then we flew out here; the plane was freezing, and I think I got sick again. That’s the only downside — that’s the only one.”

With her ‘Super Bass’ video set for release, Nicki says she wants to give Rih’s current singles their ‘moment.’
Nicki Minaj may be on top right now but that doesn’t mean the Pink Friday star won’t share the spotlight.
Her song “Fly,” featuring Rihanna, was slated to be her next single, but now Minaj has decided to change course: Since her and the Loud singer’s albums were released within a week of each other, she wanted to let her collaborator’s tracks breathe.
So the “Fly” clip won’t see the light of day until around Memorial Day, according to the Lil Wayne protégé.
“I’m gonna hold off on the Rihanna video and the Rihanna single for a little bit longer,” she told MTV News. ” ‘Cause we both kind of dropped at the same time. So she has a lot of [songs] in rotation and I want to let her stuff have a moment and do its thing, dominate radio. [Instead], I wanted to come out with something more fun.”
Nicki is now set to deliver a visual to “Super Bass,” a number included on the deluxe edition of her debut. She’s currently performing the track during her set on Weezy’s I Am Still Music Tour. The song is certainly more uptempo than “Fly”; “Super Bass” was produced by Kane Beatz (Lil Wayne, Drake) and is more Katy Perry-ish than her ballad-leaning “Fly.”
“I’m taking it back to a few things that I’ve done, it’s a lot more fun,” Nicki said of the forthcoming “Super Bass” clip. “It will be my most fun video and my most carefree video, lots of eye candy and lots of beefcakes.” – MTV
